Homologs of human HEXA protein
Homologene was used to determine the protein homologs of Beta-hexosaminidase subunit alpha (HEXA) found in human.
Eight species were found to contain a protein homolog with humans. The E-value was determined by using BLAST.

Alignments
Alignments were produced using the protein sequences found in Homologene. ClustalW2 and T-Coffee each produced a valid alignment.

Analysis
Out of these two homologous protein alignments analysis (shown in the files), T-coffee alignment output provides the color-coated results which reveal the conficence level of each alignment. It is helpful for analysis. Homologous Hexa protein alignment results suggested that protein sequences in the 8 homologs and human are relatively well-conserved, especially with more matches among human, chimpanzee, dog, cattle, mouse, rat, and chicken (~83%). Zebrafish and the small flowering plant (Arabidopsis thaliana) also possess homolog of Hexa protein, but they have a higher E-value compare to the other species.
